Mercersburg, PA - April 7, 2008. Tuscarora Designs, Inc. is proud to announce advances in chain control upon throttle release. These patented, crucial technologies permit safe retreat from a completed felling cut. Chain free-wheeling is stopped upon any cut completion to enhance safety for the cutter as well as others in the area.

By judicious design, bar integrated braking can eliminate the band brake to trim both cost and weight while providing full time braking. Its self energized braking captures the chain’s momentum to apply the brake.

Several implementations are possible with similar results. Two methods, Brake-in-Time as well as Side Step™, directly use the cutter bar for bar integrated braking while one strategy, Clutch-in-Time, uses a novel 3D clutch.
